The setup guide explains the wiring: COM (common) wire goes to the COM terminal (either of the two).
For example, if you have 6 valves, the common wire goes to COM terminal, and each individual zone wire goes to a zone port (say zones 1 to 6 ports).
VIN outputs +5V, and that’s used for sensors that require +5V power. It’s not for valves.
