Espriff (maker of the ESP8266 in the Rev 3.0 hardware) is working to release an update. Not sure how long it may take to get it into the Arduino build environment. If it gets updated then it should be possible to reflash the rev 3.0 devices. Earlier hardware may need extra steps as the WiFi was through a bridge if I understand that setup. The bridges would need to be fixed. Your base router also needs to be updated. Some manufacturers already have updates available.
