ultradianguyParticipantFirst version of this got marked as spam after I tried to edit it to make an addition, so I’m trying again.
It would be very helpful if weather adjustments could vary per zone – particularly precipitation. I’m using the Zimmerman method currently. I have zones for Vegetable beds, established perennials, newer perennials, and a variety of container plants. While I can set zones to ignore weather adjustments, it would be very helpful to have a bit more granularity. For instance, if we have half a day of rain, I probably want to reduce irrigation for established perennials more than for my vegetables, but not lose the adjustment completely. Similarly, for window boxes that are mostly sheltered from rain, I don’t want to reduce irrigation at all when it rains – but I still want compensation in hot weather. Right now, there’s no way to ignore rain or reduce sensitivity for one zone but keep the temp and humidity adjustment.
Ideally, zones would inherit the global setting by default but have a check box to set it separately. There is already a check box to ignore weather – what I’m looking for instead is that when you check that box, you are able to set the zimmerman sensitivity parameters separately for that zone. Setting all 3 zimmerman sensitivity numbers to zero would be the same as checking the ignore weather box.
Alternatively, a simpler approach would be 3 checkboxes – ignore rain, ignore temp, ignore humidity. At least then one could ignore rain without losing the temp adjustment.
I’m not sure how or if this would work for the ET method as I’m not using it and don’t find it as useful for my use case (flowers and vegetables, no lawn).

RayKeymasterProbably the easiest workaround is to split your program into multiple programs. Those that should be affected by weather algorithm are in their own programs, and those that should not be affected are in a different set of programs.

ultradianguyParticipantThanks Ray. I already have that – but what I’m asking for is not just ignoring weather altogether. I’m asking about being able to set different sensitivity parameters (zimmerman) by Program – or at least, ignore specific aspects of weather – rain/temp/humidity.
For example – as stated above – if we have half a day of rain, I probably want to reduce irrigation for established perennials more than for my vegetables, but not lose the adjustment completely.

RayKeymasterOk, I see what you mean. Honestly this is going to be quite complicated to implement, because each different weather algorithm has their own set of parameters, so to account for all of them that would require keeping track of different sets of parameters for each zone. It can be done it’s just complicated and not sure how many users need this.
