Hi, I was wondering how to configure an analog soil moisture sensor to my new Opensprinkler v4.0 running 2.2.1 (7) firmware. The sensor is a DFRobot SEN0308:

I have connected the red wire to +5V, the yellow sensor wire to SN1 and the black wire to GND. I have previously tested this sensor using an an Arduino Uno R4 board and was able to read the analog voltage values.

The problem I am having is that the “Edit Sensors” page says “Number of Sensors: 0” and the “Built-in Sensor” page seems to want to configure a digital (wet/dry) soil sensor. I was expecting to see some type of interface that would let me adjust the voltage limits and possibly adjust the curve/cutoff point.

Do I need a newer version of the firmware to support this? Do I need to buy the Sensor Expander board? I thought that one of the new features of the v4.0 system was that it supported analog inputs on SN1-4?

    Any tips?

    Thanks, Jim

Hi, using the built-in analog reading on v4 is not yet supported – it requires both firmware and UI changes and the UI hasn’t been updated yet. This new feature will be released later this month and this feature will be covered in firmware 2.2.1(7) user manual and API doc, which again haven’t been released yet. You don’t need the Sensor Expander (unless you need more than 4 analog sensors). Thanks for your understanding.

Ray, thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I am glad to hear that this functionality is in the works and will be available in the next release.
