Using Stepper Motors with OpenSprinkler for Smart Irrigation

I’ve recently been exploring OpenSprinkler for an automated garden irrigation project and started looking into possible applications for stepper motors. I’m interested in using a stepper motor to control a small valve mechanism, allowing more precise adjustment of water flow than a simple on/off valve.

Has anyone here experimented with integrating stepper motors into an OpenSprinkler system? I’d like to know which motor drivers work well, how to handle the power supply, and whether additional programming is needed. Any practical advice or project examples would be greatly appreciated!
