FlyKARMemberRay, I have to say that the DIY OpenSprinkler kit that I order in April and finally got around to building two days ago was a joy! (took about 2 hours) I haven’t soldered in over 30 years but with the detailed instruction and well put together kit everything went together with out any problem!
I wish the expansion boards were available in DIY as well!
Thanks for such a great product and detailed instructions! 😀 😀

RayKeymasterThanks for your positive feedback. When I first saw your post title, I thought you mean your DIY board was fried or something, which scared me 🙂
Regarding the expansion boards, it’s unlikely the DIY version will be offered again. I am trying to consolidate the number of products and versions in order to reduce the overhead. For the expansion board, I may consider offering just the PCB and then provide Digikey links to the components. This should be easy to prepare.

FlyKARMemberSorry for the SCARE!!
It was fun and easy… everything worked as advertised. I am somewhat puzzled that people have had trouble with the assembly since everything is so clear in the build instruction right down to the warnings about getting certain parts confused… As you can imagine my experience from 30 years ago was with much larger components and larger boards so for me the small size of everything was the challenge.
I am planning on writing an iOS app to work with it and do program and edit functions as well as the manual operations that SprinklerAce performs!
Thanks again!!

KbarbMemberI only opened this to see what was going on with the “I’ve had it with DIY”, only to see it was the opposite.
I’m still not sure what is meant with Bye, Bye, but anyway, sounds like you’re having fun.June 7, 2013 at 4:17 pm #23666 -
