flyrobotParticipantHi,
Im new on this forum, i ordered diy kit v2.1u and received it on yesterday (thanks for high speed delivery). After 3 hours build, everything is going smooth (nothing smoke 😀 ), just follow the instruction (very clear manual). I have no gardening, irrigation background experience and not familiar with valve, hose etc. i want to build this exciting project because i just learned to grow honeydew melon on my small park and i want to watering automotically. I have some years experience building multicopter and become my hobby. That is all my introduction.
I have several noob question :
1. after i tested the output (station 1-8) without any program running on the station, i measured the port is 23-24 VAC and when i running a program the icon on the display o and O fliping and i check the port is still the same 23-25 VAC. And i check all port is same voltage. Is it normal ? Is any procedure i missed?
2. Do you any suggestion what valve is the most people use for garden (reasonable price but better quality) and what is specification ?
Thanks,
John

RayKeymaster1) You are probably just getting stray voltage because there is no load connected to the port. If you want to do a quick test without an actual solenoid, you can connect an LED with a 4.7K resistor (or any resistor between 1K and 10K) in series between the COM port and any station port you want to test. The LED should light up when the station is on.
2) If you search for sprinkler valve you will find plenty of choices. For example:
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=sprinkler+valve&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Asprinkler+valve
I’ve mostly used Orbit inline valves (you can choose 1inch or 3/4 inch depending on your pipe size). These are also available at homedepot and lowes stores, so you can go to a store to grab one. If you need to connect these valves to garden hose, you can get NPT to GHT adapters, which are also available at stores. Also check the ‘sprinkler valves’ section of the FAQ page to find other information: http://rayshobby.net/?page_id=207#sprinkler_valves
