Assuming one has to move (remove from wall) the OpenSprinkler device next to a computer with a USB connection to perform firmware updates (I don’t actually have mine yet so I’m just going by the videos), it would be nice if the mounting holes were the slot-and-hole type so that one could leave the screws alone and just slide the controller ‘up’ and off the screw heads for easy removal and remounting.

    Just a thought.

That’s a good suggestion. We don’t have plan to re-design the enclosure yet (since designing and creating mold for a new enclosure is very costly), but it’s a very valid point.

If you have a laptop, it may be easier to bring your laptop to the controller to update firmware.

Thanks for the quick response. I might try modding mine with a dremel if it looks possible:)

I was thinking exactly the same thing a few days ago because we had torrential rain and the power point blew.
Luckily, I could eventually wifi myself back into the OSPI but I was wondering the same thing, given my enclosure setup!

I totally second this idea. In response to Ray’s response: no, it is not easier to bring my laptop out to the garage, lay it on my messy bench, etc.
It is easier as Mark suggested, to take my Dremel and make the holes into keyhole shape.

I made a slotted a piece of plywood to let the open sprinkler slide into it. I think I’ll make the next slide out of metal, as the wood is all bent and humid. The enclosure didn’t help much to protect my OS
