My OpenSprinkler app failed over the weekend because my DSL modem IP address changed as they normally do. I’m using the approved method of port forwarding.
I don’t really want to spend $20/month for a static IP address.
Anyone have a good method/script/etc of emailing when the “public” IP address of the DSL modem changes?
You can use dynamic DNS service — many routers these days support dynamic DNS. The idea is that every time the IP address changes, it will report the change to the dynamic DNS website. And you can access your network using an easy to remember DNS name, instead of the numeric IP address.
