    Hello!

Couldn’t it be good to let programs start sequentiel one after the other?
I’d like to have this option.
We have often drip tubes in the installations that could run at the same time.

We support sequential and non-sequential stations which are modified per station by tapping the gear icon on the top right corner of each station card.

    Hi
I know, that the stations can follow each other sequentiell.
This ist perfect for lawn Sprinklers.
But dripperlines can more stations run the same time.
So if i unclick the drip stations unsequentiell, they will run with the first lawn sprinkler…
so i would put the drip stations in one programm, which should start after the lawn Sprinkler program.

Right as I said we support non-sequential stations or in other words, concurrent. You can use the demo here: http://demo.opensprinkler.com password is opendoor.

Assuming all stations are run sequentially, I don’t see any way to alter that sequence. What’s the best (or only) way to change the sequence? Use multiple programs and schedule each to effect the order desired?
    Thanks, Mark

I guess I understand what you mean now. There is no built-in mechanism to let programs run sequentially. Assuming your program run-times are all fixed, you can certainly create programs with start times one after another. For example if program 1 starts at 9am and runs for 45 minute, just set program 2 to start at 9:45am, and so on. This is basically setting the program start times manually, but it should work.

    Hi
Now you got it. I have to write in better english…. 😉
It would work like you wrote, when the weather adjustment ist 100%. I’d like to have a solution, that the irrigation runs one program after the other, even when the watering percentage ist more or less then 100%.
In the case you wrote, the second program had to start at 10:30, cause it could bei at 200% 1h30m.

@Michael, ok, I agree that when the program water time is adjustable under weather control, it can become more complicated. At the moment, I think the only viable solution is for you to re-wire the stations according to the order you’d like them to run in sequence. For example, if you’d like the stations to run in the order of A, B, C, D, just order them in this way (e.g. A is station 1, B is station 2, C is station 3 and D is station 4), and this way the order matches how the controller will run them.

    FWIW…
Predictability and reliability of watering are my highest priorities. MUCH higher than the convenience of automatic adjustment or simpler schedule creation. Based on what I *think* know about OS scheduling, I build programs where every zone starts at a specific time, the run time specified is the max that they can run, and nothing runs in parallel (though I wish I could explicitly control this when I know that some zones can run in parallel with other zones). I make manual adjustments when I want to. A simplistic example is: spring 50%, summer 100%, fall 50%.

I do not have to worry about teh impact of potential day overruns or pushing one programs zone schedule into the next. When watering is adjusted down it leaves time gaps between when one zone stops and the next begins, but it always does what I expect/programmed.

Perhaps as I gain more experience with OS scheduling I’ll try some other techniques.

I would also like to express my need for sequential programs (Not stations, as that already exists). In my case, I have 12 drip stations watering over 3 programs. Each program contains 4 drip stations running concurrently and the programs are balanced in accordance with my flow rate. These programs run for 30 minutes each, starting at 1am, 1:30am and 2am, respectively. This allows me to water at a relatively consistent rate for 90 minutes. This is vital to those of us on a well.

As mentioned, the challenge comes about when I utilize the weather adjustment. As you can imagine, when I adjust to 150%, for example, I have 8 stations running concurrently as the programs begin to overlap. This is a problem as I am exceeding my flow rate.

Being on a well, I wish to have my pump run continuously. Thus I do not want to spread out my start times to, say, 1am, 2am and 3am as this would cause unnecessary pump cycling (On for 30 minutes, off for 30 minutes – if weather is set to 100%). If the program logic worked hand-in-hand with the weather adjustment to run sequentially, this would alleviate the problem.

    Thank you,
    Mike

In the meantime, is there a solution for this problem ? I also really need sequential programs

The original post was from almost 5 years ago. Since then many improvements have been made to the firmware. What exactly do you mean by “sequential programs”?

    Hi
I wan’t to have the possibility to start some programs, that Are marked, that will run directly ohne After the other and not with fixed starttimes

yes same problem here. I have to start programs sequential after another program has finished. I use weather forecast so i can´t tell the time they will finish.
