    Hi. I am still in more trouble than a one armed paper hanger.

    First question. Is it possible to purchase just the circuit boards for the OpenSprinkler???

    Now have 2 opensprinklers with the same problem. Power to the on off switch but no further.No display No Nuttin.

    I am sure the problem is with me and not the unit so I have attached a very very rough wiring schematic.

    Overview.

    I am using a 16 station module with an AC output. Because ALL MY OUTPUTS INCLUDING LED’s MUST BE DC I have tried to convert the OS output to DC by using half wave conversion via diode and capacitor and voltage regulator to achieve the 24V dc output and this seems to work just fine.
    Because I also need to operate the “load” by using a separate on/off switch with LED warning light. I have introduced a separate 24V dc power source to perform
    this.Because all the “Loads” are relays the circuit is very low Amperage needing only 50 mA to operate.
    My thought is I am using the same “common (neutral)” for both the AC and DC circuits. Could this be causing the OS to die???

    Please forgive the roughness of the attached schematic because as you can no doubt guess I am new to this.

    Your Power supply confuse me,and i am no guru either….

    Here are some presumptions:
    1. Power Supply is 24Vac
    i. In that case D3 will do half rectification for your load.
    ii. No power will get to your voltage regulator as D2 block the positive half that was allowed by D3.
    iii. D1 is not doing anything.
    iv. I see no power getting to your OpenSprinkler

    2. Power Supply is 24Vdc
    i. D3 does nothing and your load has 24Vdc
    ii. No power will get to your voltage regulator as D2 block the positive that was allowed by D3.
    iii. D1 is not doing anything.
    iv. I see no power getting to your OpenSprinkler

    You need to understand that the “AC” unit can not work properly on a “DC” supply as the Triacs require AC to switch off.
    If you require a “DC” to drive your load, then you need to place a AC-DC circuit on each output to drive you relays, you still have to supply the OpenSprinkler with 24Vac to make it work

    Hi Zodiac thanks for you response.

    I am in error on my “rough” drawing. D1 is drawn the reverse to how it has been fitted.After C1 the current is about 30V DC the Volt reg smooths this to 24V DC.
    D2 blocks DC current from lighting LED 1 when power source is from the the manual 24 VDC source.D3 prevents LED 2 from lighting when power source is from open sprinkler.

    Open Sprinkler is powered by a separate 240VAC/24VAC transformer.
    Conversion to DC take place only on the output side on the Open Sprinkler.

    I am not sure about my “common or neutral” connections.

    Both the 24VAC source and the 24VDC power sources share the same “common”.
    Maybe I should have a blocking diode on AC “Common”, close to the opensprinkler, to stop the negative half wave AC from using the DC “common”??

    The circuitry seems to work just fine as far as output to the relays are concerned but I am concerned that by using the same “common” for AC and DC power sources
    my be causing a problem somewhere.

    As you can probably tell from my ramblings I am a real amateur but would appreciate any advice I can get.

    have attached an Amended “Sketch” to adjust for incorrectly shown D1.

    Because I dive in to check the schematic: if you need to drive DC valves, you should consider getting OpenSprinkler DC, which outputs DC voltage. I know the name sounds confusing, but OpenSprinkler DC just means it’s DC powered, and it can work with both 24V AC valves as well as 12V DC valves. So in a sense it’s more general-purpose.

    If you want to just purchase the boards and not the enclosure, we can arrange for that. Just submit a support ticket.
