    Hi,
I have been using OpenSprinkler Pi since July 2016 with few issues. We had a few power outages, power flickers and the system quit working. I attempted to get the raspberry to boot to no avail. I formatted the SD card with a new Raspian Buster image. I followed the directions to put OpenSprinkler on a fresh system, when I run sudo ./build.sh ospi, I get the “Building OpenSprinkler…” but no prompts for run a start up. When I look in /etc/init.d folder the file OpenSprinkler.sh is missing.

I am a novice with raspberry’s, and I have learned quite a bit over the last few weeks trying to get this to work, but I am lost. What simple thing am I missing?

    thanks

I am not sure about Raspian Buste, I have not personally tried it myself, but I would assume it should work fine. If the script can’t install in init.d, you can manually start the firmware by going to the firmware folder and execute:
    sudo ./OpenSprinkler

    Ray,

Thanks, this starts OpenSprinkler and I can use it. I am excited, the yard more so since it is getting quite dry now. Water day is tomorrow.

I still have not determined why the build.sh file is erroring out, As I said above, get the “Building OpenSprinkler …” prompt, but not the other 3: “”Do you want to start OpenSprinkler on startup? “” and “Adding OpenSprinkler launch script…” and “Done”. This of course lends to the start-up file, OpenSprinkler.sh to be missing in the etc/init.d folder.

I used the following Raspians; Jessie, Stretch and Buster. Same results for all. The build.sh does not run properly or Raspian is blocking it for some reason.

I found the issue, I was using WinSCP for my SSH client, this as causing the build.sh not to run. PuTTY works perfect.

    Thanks for your time Ray
