Using a Stepper Motor with OpenSprinkler for a DIY Valve Project

I recently experimented with connecting a stepper motor to an OpenSprinkler-based irrigation setup to control a custom water valve. Instead of using a standard solenoid, the stepper motor allows more precise positioning and smoother movement. It took a bit of tuning to get the motor speed and torque right, but the results have been very reliable so far. Has anyone else tried integrating stepper motors with OpenSprinkler? I’d be interested to hear what drivers and control methods you’re using and whether you’ve found any long-term reliability issues.
