    I’m just strange and stubborn enough to want to make a shot at using FreeBSD (12 on a Raspberry Pi 2). Has anybody else tried this? Words of wisdom or caution?

    Did you mean to compile the firmware on FreeBSD? I would assume it should be reasonably easy to get the firmware running on FreeBSD as the firmware only relies on some basic Unit networking stuff.
