I wanted to update the firmware to 3.X but I am a little concerned to brick my unit.

Will my 2.4 run the latest update? Wondering how long I can expect this little thing to keep ticking.

Well, the version numbers you mentioned are quite confusing to me. 3.x sounds like the hardware version, there is no firmware version 3.x.
And what’s 2.4? We’ve never sold any hardware version 2.4.

Thanks for answering a question with so many typos. I swore you just came out with version 3 of the firmware but clearly I was wrong about most of what i posted. fat fingers maybe?

    Here is what i have:

    App version 2.4.49
    Firmware: 2.1.7
    Hardware Version: 2.3 – AC

I can’t figure what Pi I have through the open sprinkler interface.

I am pretty sure this was your first full unit. But I could be wrong. You were still selling the kits back then but you were sold out so I bought the assembled hit. There is nothing in my order history but again, this must have been around 9 or so years ago maybe?

I read I need the latest firmware to utilize the app. Please let me know if that was wrong as well.

What you have is microcontroller-based OpenSprinkler 2.3, it is NOT OSPi (there is no Pi inside the controller). Not sure why you had the impression this is a Pi-based system.

Firmware update instructions for OpenSprinkler 2.3 are here:
