Hi all, beginning of the season here so I just upgraded to the latest version and can’t find the weather key section under the Advanced settings. The User Guide says it should be there, but I can’t find it.

    What am I missing?

    App Version: 1.8.5
    Firmware: 2.1.8 (4)
    Hardware Version: OSPi

    Thanks

Pat, latest versions of OS/OSPi no longer supports WU api keys. The service has switched to OpenWeatherMap for which OpenThings provides the API key.

My last reply didn’t go through it looks like? Must be stuck in a moderation queue somewhere.

It suggested that the documentation should be updated since it currently says it still supports Wunderground, and since I have a PWS I also have a wunderground key. Would be great to use that hyperlocal info since my PWS is in my backyard.

@Pat, the OS Weather Service has been extended to accept a WU format data stream. You need to host the Weather Service locally but then you can “point” your PWS at the service and have your local weather used by OS for calculating watering scale. There is a fair bit of documentation at the bottom of this [ LINK ]

Funnily enough, it was inspired by this blog post [ HERE ] 8)

Hey that page looks familiar 🙂

Perfect, I can host my own fork of this. How do I point OSPi to my hosted weather aggregator instead of OpenThings? Edit: found it. ospi/su.

Edit: There’s even support for weewx? Even better!

Hey Pat, great that you have joined the dots. Yep, WeeWX can send WU format data to Weather Service so this should expand the potential support no-end. Let me know if any questions or feedback on how we can improve this functionality. Pete
