I tried to use the OpenSprinkler updater. When I connected the USB cable to the OpenSprinkler controller, Windows made a noise as though it recognized the device. However, the OpenSprinkler updater software (version 1.0.4) failed to ever recognize the controller.

I went forward and downloaded the osFWUpdater_0616 software. I ran that program, clicked on “Detect Hardware,” and then later clicked on ‘Upload Selected Firmware.” After a few moments, the controller LCD display showed “Error code: 02Wd. I attempted to re-initiate the controller (holding the B2 button down, but never got the controller to the reset menu).

At this stage, it seems like the controller is really messed up. I did a search for “0x2D” in your support site, but turned up nothing. I’ve attached a pic of what the controller looks like in this state.

Okay, I figured it out. This has to do with a problematic SD card in the controller. I removed the card, found the formatting was corrupt, re-formatted as FAT32 and put it back in. Things worked properly. Was able to get the firmware updated.

Note: the updater program, running in Windows 10, wouldn’t detect the OpenSprinkler controller… UNTIL I started the program using the “run as administrator” option.
