I just rolled the OpenSprinkler DC out on our Blueberry crop. I would like to have freeze protection where the unit turns station X,Y,Z on when the temp drops below X. I attempted to use IFTTT however, it is not possible to use the weather station located on the property and the temp varies by 10+ degrees.

Is there someone who is willing to implement customizations that maybe I could hire to write this feature for me?

I would prefer using an on-board temp sensor or, grabbing the temp info from the weather station, whichever is more reliable.

The Zimmerman weather algorithm already accounts for freezing condition — when temperature is very low, the algorithm will output a water level of 0%, preventing watering.

If you want to use a sensor instead, you can get a rain sensor, connect to OpenSprinkler’s sensor terminal, and enable Rain Sensor in settings.. Many rain sensors also account for freezing condition (they are often called rain and freeze sensors). So this should fit your need.

That’s not what I am looking for. We don’t turn watering off in a freeze condition, we turn all wells and irrigation on to freeze protect the fruit with a layer of ice.

OK, I misunderstood: so you want the controller to turn ON stations x, y, z in freezing condition. This is kind of the opposite of what sprinkler controllers are generally supposed to do (i.e. prevent watering in freezing condition). It’s definitely possible to modify the firmware to add this customization, but you will probably need someone with programming experience to help you with it.
