    Hi All,

I must be missing something simple and I need some collective brainpower to figure it out; I am unable to setup the native iOS app to connect to my OSPi. When I enter the IP:Port and password, it says “Check IP/Port and try again”. I manage multiple greenhouses and have multiple OSPis running on a private network. My OSPis are V.1.4 running firmware V.2.1.5. My phone, from which I am trying to connect to the OSPi, is connected to the same private network via wifi. Despite all of my attempts at rebooting everything, trying different ports/passwords, etc, the native app won’t connect. From my desktop, I can easily connect to the UI via IP:Port, so I know this works. I am unable to ping the OSPi from my phone and vice versa, but I can ping other terminals (not OSPi) on the network. The Pi’s all have bound MAC/IP addresses. Does anyone have input on what I may be missing here?

    Thanks,
    Ian

The most likely issue based on everything you just said is the app’s timeout. I have heard multiple complaints like the one you described and that is the most likely issue. My current app (1.4.4) is far too aggressive with the timeout (3 seconds on testing if the IP is valid). I am resolving these issues in the upcoming app update by increasing the timeout.

For the record, when using the direct IP method in a browser, there is no timeout at all.

    Thank you!

No, thank you! I am using OpenMesh wireless equipment and the default setting doesn’t allow terminals to see/talk to each other (think public wifi). One check box in the firmware and I got the native app to connect smoothly.

    Cheers,

Oh thanks for letting us know and glad to hear it’s working now!

Nevertheless, we will be increasing the timeouts to resolve some other issues we have observed.
