Which gcc version required for pi firmware build?

Running OpenSprinkler pi, with gcc version 4.9.2. Everything else is up to date based on apt. Raspbian 4.9.35-v7+.

I get build errors on firmware 2.2.0(1) which might well be related to an obsolete version of gcc. Errors start with “Non-static data members initializers only available with …”, and cascade from there.

How best to resolve this – or find a pre-built binary?

Resolved. Finally gone one of my systems up (rebuilding shop), and burned a new, current image pf Pi. Much later version of gcc – and all compiled correctly.
