My OpenSprinkler 2.3 AC appears to have just bitten the dust during a firmware upgrade attempt. (avrdude reports data mismatches, and the unit is totally unresponsive.)
I’ve gone ahead and ordered a 3.4 AC plus an Ethernet module as a replacement, but that still leaves me with a couple of questions.
- Will the expansion module from the version 2.3 hardware work with the version 3.4 hardware?
- What sort of adapter do I need for the power connection? I see that the 3.4 hardware is using a barrel connector, but I don’t see the specs for its dimensions or any product links.

We’ve communicated via support ticket. As a short summary:
1) The expander for v2.3 is v2.0, and it is NOT compatible with OpenSprinkler v3.x (including v3.0 to v3.4). Therefore if you are upgrading to OpenSprinkler v3.4, you need to buy a new expander (version v3.0).
2) OpenSprinkler v3.4 includes a terminal block to power barrel adapter, so you can still use your existing power adapter that has two stripped wires.
