    All,

I just received my Opensprinkler a few days ago and was wondering if anyone connected a RS485 connection to it? The reason I am asking is that I want to integrate this into my Home Automation system and the safest method would be electrically isolated RS485 over a ‘longish’ distance.

Also, can the USB interface be used for communications? For me to try and fully integrate Opensprinkler with any kind of Automation system it has to do a few basic things:

    1. Integrate safely in H/W,
    2. Send object status change events in realtime and
    3. Accept external command input from the Ethernet/USB or hopefully also RS485/232 ports.

It would be nice to get a ‘SN1=1 or SN1=0’ output sent to a port as they change state. Maybe V2.0 would allow this???

Ray, can you give us some details of the 2.0 H/W feature list?

    Regards,
    Ingo

    Ingo,

The USB is only used for flashing the microcontroller, it cannot be used for communication.

For interfacing with other automation systems, the easiest way is probably through the HTTP GET commands:
