I am having an issue with getting the sensor expansion board to show up on either the OS ipad app or a direct ip login using my mac. I updated the firmware to 2.2.1(5) but still no added sensors. I have it connected between the OS controller and my zone expander. The zones on the expander work ok. There is a red light showing through the cover on the sensor expander but that is it. I stared fresh with a factory reset to avoid conflicts. I can add my settings back later. Any ideas – suggestions?

Make sure your app is 2.4.96 or above. If the app is an older version, like 2.4.90, it doesn’t support sensors. If the mobile app doesn’t work, try directly access the controller in s web browser, using its IP address.

One more thing to check: go to https://demo.opensprinkler.com, click the footer menu (the hamburger icon at the bottom-right of the screen), do you see an ‘Edit Sensors’ there? If not, it’s your browser caching an older version of the UI, you can use a private browsing window or clear your browser cache.

Installed on OpenSprinklr 3.3 DC without problems.
Everytime I update, I wonder, why there’s no possibility to upgrade directly within the GUI but always need to download the firmware and upload it to the device. Would be a lot more convenient.

We did add the “Update Firmware” link to the UI/App’s side menu. From the next firmware 2.2.1(6) we will add automatic firmware download to make it more convenient.

One thing I want to point out is that given the power of today’s LLM, a lot of routine and tedious tasks can be delegated to it. For example, Codex and Claude Code are both very knowledgeable about OpenSprinkler and its API, you can totally open Codex or Claude, tell it you want to upgrade your OpenSprinkler to firmware xxx, and give it your controller’s IP address, it can perform the upgrade for you.
