zeddyParticipantHello
Last night I tried to go to the open sprinkler URL of my controller and found that it wouldn’t load, I just got a black screen. I tried with IE and chrome, same result. Is the site hosting the web page having troubles?I’m running the latest firmware on hardware 2.0

RayKeymasterTry to turn on the browser’s developer tools to see what are the error messages when you load the homepage. Another thing you can try is to open a browser and type
http://x.x.x.x/ja
where x.x.x.x is the opensprinkler’s IP address. This should respond with at least the firmware number. If not, check the OpenSprinkler IP, and see if it may have changed.June 5, 2017 at 12:54 am #46555
tal_dParticipantHi Ray
I have just about the same problem for about 3 weeks now
I have 3 active Open Sprinkler computers at my home, “all act” the same – When tring to connect via Http: Browsers now
all -> are the self built HW version (I think 2.2Updated I can check), FW. 2.6., different Config/ProgrammingFurther Relevant links may be : https://opensprinkler.com/forums/topic/unable-to-log-into-web-interface/
https://opensprinkler.com/forums/topic/help-black-browser-screen-at-start-up/I think that something changed with Win10 update or “Some Other Update” (both Chrome, IE, EDGE, Firefox.. etc…) answer the same
suddenly of the Same Computers (that worked fine with the OSs for about 1.5years now)I think – It’s computer “With Update” related (2 computers updated by Win10 (can’t stop update policy) can’t connect now, Win7 Computer (Old) can connect fine)
Connection through Phone (Android APP) can connect !You get a “Phenomena” that “Plays” like that :
1) If a computer had a Cookie with the Password – you will load with Black Screen On Chrome, loading like on Edge (can send screen captures) & IE, same with Firefox
2) If you did not have the Password Cookie of OS, you will get stuck on LogIn Screen & will never be able to log in
I’m not sure, but EDGE will write : loading… and go to black screen very fast (I’m not sure if with Cookie or Without)The problem is systematic & repetitive with 3 Active OpenSprinklers I have (different Zones, & Configuration – Same FW version, different IPs, network Switches & Routers, etc..)
The –> /ja answers fine :
{“fwv”:216}How can you help ? as I need now to keep the Win7 alive (as I needed to re-config Summer Programming for all 3 devices & with Phone App it’s less comfortable)
I think that more people will meet this behavior with timeTal

zeddyParticipantTurns out it’s related to the virus scanner i’m using, which is Avast!. If you disable the web shield it loads the page fine. I tired adding exceptions to the virus scanner but it ignores them. The Virus scanner seems to be having trouble with some of the .js. I’ve posted over on Avast support forums but they don’t seem to be interested in fixing it.

tal_dParticipantWOW – thanks ! You are exactly right !
I tried to stop the Web-Shield of AVAST and it works ! You are also right about the Exclusion list ! I believed it would work
but it doesn’t – So you have to stop the Shield to operate the OpenSprinkler Devices over Web AccessI’ll also open a BUG report with AVAST – hope they will implement (it had changed suddenly with the Win10 updates)

zeddyParticipantI hadn’t been patching Windows since it was installed so it wasn’t a windows update that did it. It happened after an Avast program update about 2 versions ago. I did try and install the Windows creator update but that didn’t help either.
Do you have paid Avast support? I did try and log a ticket with them under the free version but they told me they won’t help unless I pay them. From reading the forums they appear to have done some firewall work for the paid version, there are people complaining about not being able to access router pages and the like but for them they can go an untick a box to resolve it, perhaps something has slipped into the free version as well.

RayKeymasterThis has been reported in another thread. That is, Avast anti-virus software apparently blocks the access to OpenSprinkler (and some other sites too). I personally use Linux and Mac so didn’t know about this until some customers reported.
