    Hey guys,

I’ve got my OpenSprinkler Pi all set up and watering the garden nicely, which is great because we are going away and I won’t have to ask the neighbours to do it. However I will still have to get them to come and open/close the chicken coop every morning and night to make sure the cats don’t get them (urban farming).

Only 6/8 outputs on the OpenSprinkler are in use so I have 2 spare. I’ve done some research and there are tons of ideas, ranging from using a pneumatic cylinder to an automatic car antenna (although that would be DC).

Has anybody attempted anything like this at home that might have some suggestions? And more importantly used the OpenSprinkler Pi to drive it?

    Cheers!

Interesting. I was talking to a friend a while back, who designed her own chicken coop, and we were talking about how to construct an automated chicken coop. If you google ‘Arduino chicken coop’, or ‘raspberry pi chicken coop’ you should find some existing projects.
