    We live in a downtown setting with rooftop terraces. Hoping to grow herbs and flowers in raised pots at some point. Each terrace has a water faucet.

    I guess the question is: can this thing be set up to control drip irrigation, and can it handle multiple zones (in my case, the zones would be distinctions between water volume needs).

    Sure, OpenSprinkler can be used for drip irrigation and it can handle multiple zones (up to 48). Do keep in mind that it’s not waterproof, so if it will be exposed to rain, you should use a waterproof enclosure (this is the one we recommend:
