Netwqork connection through switch not working

Hi All,

I have just installed my controller and I am having some difficulty getting a connection to my network via switch (Netgear FS105). When I connect the Ethernet cable direct from my OpenSprinkler to my modem/router (Thompson TG782T) it works in both DHCP mode and static IP mode however when I connect the switch through the connection it does nothing. It shows the IP as 0.0.0.0 and there is no activity LED on the switch. If I connect my laptop in place of the OpenSprinkler I can connect to the network and I get activity on the LED of the switch.

Any ideas what could cause this problem?

Does your switch require a power adapter? If so, make sure it’s powered. Since the controller can get an ip when connected directly to your router, I don’t see any obvious problem. The fact that the LED indicators do not light up when connected to the switch makes me feel perhaps your switch is not powered on.
