I am just about ready to setup my Open Sprinkler DC. I am planning on running it off a 12V lead acid battery that will be permanently connected to a maintenance charger, and just realised that a 12v lead acid battery will be outputting more like 14V when it is charging. On the specs page you list the input voltage as 5-12V. Will this be okay?

On a similar topic, I am going to be using the Open Sprinkler to switch some relays to control 240VAC. Should I buy relays with a 12V DC coil or 24V DC coil?

Yes, the voltage you described should be fine.

You should buy relays with 12V DC coil because that’s the steady state output voltage from OpenSprinkler DC (e.g. it’s roughly equal to the input voltage). Technically, OpenSprinkler DC outputs an impulse 24V DC when the station/zone is activated, but then it drops that voltage to the input voltage in steady state.
