AndycostinParticipantAll, have had my OpenSprinkler for a long time – going to say close to 10 years. It’s a 2.3-DC hardware running 2.1.6 firmware. Until recently have had no issues with it, and it’s been super reliable. However in the past few days I noticed that it’s not running the auto programs. Today I tried to run manual station cycles to water the dry areas, but while the app works and notifies me that “Station has been queued”, it never moves to operational and doesn’t show in a queue as it previously has.
Have rebooted the OpenSprinkler and no effect, changed watering to manual from zimmerman, and don’t have any rain or soil moisture sensor.
Looking at the OpenSprinkler the screen is as normal, and can’t see anything that’s happened to affect it.
Any ideas before i have to replace?April 2, 2026 at 10:38 pm #85270
RayKeymasterHi, sorry to hear about the issue. The first thing to check is to user a multimeter to measure the DC voltage between COM and a zone when that zone is turned on. See what voltage you get. Second, firmware 2.1.6 is very outdated, I highly recommend you upgrade to the latest firmware, as the issue you encounter may be firmware related.
There is some possibility the internal voltage booster on your DC controller is defective. To get around with it, you can try to use a 12VDC power adapter (many devices use 12VDC, such as WiFi routers) and see if it makes any difference. If that works, it’s a strong indication the internal voltage booster is the issue.

AndycostinParticipantRay,
Thanks – will update the Firmware. Just tested the zone that’s not connected to a solenoid. the voltage went from 0.4V to about 1V for 1s and then dropped back to 0.4V.
Can test a 12V adapter too – is that likely to assist based on above?

RayKeymasterThe measured voltage seems too low, which suggests some hardware component failure, such as the shift register, the MOSFETs etc. 12VDC is unlikely to help. If you want your controller checked and repaired by us, send a support ticket at:

and arrange for it. Alternatively, you may consider getting the current version of OpenSprinkler DC – v3.4, powered by USB-C.April 5, 2026 at 4:12 pm #85308
AndycostinParticipantThanks! Will have a play around myself to see if I can fault find, but prob just purchase one of the v3.4 to update.
