rjalexParticipantDear friends,
yesterday I have updated OS from 2.0.7 to 2.0.9 using an Ubuntu Linux (Trusty That 14.04 64 bits). The machine was a new install and did not have avrdude installed and the installer gave me a good hint and I installed it.
After that I reran the updater which complained about a communications error and quit and therefore I thought the installation had failed but much to my surprise the 2.0.9 appeared to be installed.
I have a few questions:
a) I closed the installer and so cannot remember exactly the error it gave. Would it be possible to log the same errors to a text file while updating ?
b) Is it normal most of my settings were preserved after the 2.0.9 was installed ?
c) I cannot find a way to see the FW level via the web interface. Is there ?
Thank and have a good day !

ottorinoParticipantI did the same on friday, and got no error whatsoever. (debian wheezy)
The new version asked me to perform again the bootloading procedure.
There I had some problems, but it was my fault.I plugged the cable into the USB 2 socket on my laptop, since I had problems with 2.0.7 on USB 3.
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=758&start=10#p5275Could be this the reason ?

rjalexParticipantHi Ottorino,
go guesss … without a copy of the error message I cannot recall what it said, but despite the error the update seems to have worked well.Meanwhile I have found the firmware level in the web interface, under the “About” dialog 🙂
Ciao

RayKeymastera) I closed the installer and so cannot remember exactly the error it gave. Would it be possible to log the same errors to a text file while updating ?
There should be a log.txt in the folder where you run osFirmwareUpdater from. For example, if you run it on Windows, go to the windows subfolder, and check log.txt.
b) Is it normal most of my settings were preserved after the 2.0.9 was installed ?
This is not normal, because firmware update will erase all settings and return to factory defaults. You can use the UI’s import/export feature to restore your previous settings.
c) I cannot find a way to see the FW level via the web interface. Is there ?
You can check the UI’s about page. Alternatively, open a browser and type in:
http://x.x.x.x/jo
where x.x.x.x is your OpenSprinkler’s IP address. This will return the JSON options, the first option ‘fwv’ tells the firmware version. -
