Hello all, I am relatively new to raspberry pi and am considering buying this opensprinkler as my first experience.

One of the main problems I am trying to solve in addition to scheduled irrigation is pest deterrence for my wife’s garden. I would like to activate a zone when a motion sensor is tripped in order to scare away pests who destroy our vegetable plants. I already bought motion sensors for a raspberry pi project that I was going to build from scratch, but then I found this product.

Does anyone know if I can extend opensprinkler to work with motion sensors?

    Thank you.

    Hi BigSharpie,

Yes this can work, but I think you’ll need to write your own script to trigger the zone when the motion sensor is activated. In principle it’s no different than what gt244 wanted to do in this thread https://opensprinkler.com/forums/topic/starting-os-from-data-from-thingspeak/ Once you’re able to detect the motion sensor being triggered then you just make an http get request to turn on the OpenSprinkler program that you want to run.
