I could only find an old topic but Im sure this has probably already been asked before:

What solutions can I explore to add a valve that’s on the other side of my property far from the OpenSprinkler? That place has power and coverage from same wifi and Im trying to avoid battery stuff.
Also trying to avoid buying a new OpenSprinkler just because of one valve, for convinience would be great if it could also be controlled from OpenSprinkler app.

    Any help would be appreciated.Ty.

One relatively low-cost solution is to get a WiFi smart power plug, put a 24VAC transformer onto it, and set up a zone as ‘HTTP zone’ on your OpenSprinkler to communicate with that WiFi power plug, which in turns switches on or off your valve. This solution (along with some other alternative solutions) are documented in this blog post:

Another option is to add a zone expander, but given the distance between your main controller and that valve, you would need to make a custom expander cable (it needs a minimum of 6 wires plus a common wire). This gives you 16 addition zones on your far side but making the custom cable can be cumbersome.

Tks for the link, kind of what I had guessed, so maybe just a Shelly 1 Gen3/4 to turn on/off a 24v transformer. Expansion cable is tricky because of slope and obstacles.
I was just thinking there could be an easy solution I hadn’t considered. Shelly it is then, ty for the reply.
