Just to close the loop on this, I created a support ticket and Ray provided advice to resolve the problem 🙂

The station names issue (and the reboot loop that my OS got into) were both solved by re-flashing the processor via USB. The instructions I followed are hiding at the bottom of the OS 3.0 firmware update page: https://openthings.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/5000832310

I gather that the USB port is only available/accessible on the earlier OS3 boards with the clear acrylic enclosure, not on the later models in the white plastic enclosure.

Thanks venki.das, unfortunately reloading version 2.1.9 didn’t work for me, so I tried downgrading back to 2.1.8 (6)… this was apparently a bad idea because my OS is now stuck in a reboot loop! 🙁

Hoping Ray might be able to offer a solution? Should I make a support ticket for this?

I think I’ve got the same issue here. After updating my OS 3.0 to firmware 2.1.9 rev 2, all my station names show as “reset”.

When I try to edit the names, it doesn’t work… they’re all either displayed as “reset” or sometimes when I refresh the page they’re all displayed as “a6d82bced638de3def1e9bbb4983225c” (all the same). Also doesn’t work to restore from backup settings – programs etc look fine, but the station names still show as “reset”.

In the console, I see the following error “The character encoding of the HTML document was not declared. The document will render with garbled text in some browser configurations if the document contains characters from outside the US-ASCII range. The character encoding of the page must be declared in the document or in the transfer protocol.”
