mike1ParticipantSeriously agree with the POE option.
(1) I would MUCH RATHER have an RJ45 network port than use Wifi. (I keep as many things OFF wifi as possible as it is a contended network so save that for tablets etc & it’s just reliable!)
(2) POE would be awesome. I use it wherever possible. Converting from 48v to 12v – could use the following buck device from Aliexpress I guess. #us3-$4.

mike1ParticipantFair call as long as the main unit is never down. So to ensure that what about using opto-isolators &/or fuses to prevent damage to the controller circuitry? I may not be suggesting the right solution as electronics is not my thing but you get the intention. I feel quite exposed as a failure of the system while I am on holiday may have very costly consequences. I have just had such a failure so I have an interest in making it fool proof. Whilst I try not to be that fool, even a spade thru the control wiring could produce such shorts for example. Want to make it when customers do get it wrong or an unexpected environmental event occurs, nothing dies.
mike1ParticipantThanks William. AliExpress have a similar box.
(Like the smartglow fuses.)
I shall order a fuse block. Still would suggest that a manual override switch unit (with over-current protection & Led indicators) would be a nice additional box.
