ecto1a2003ParticipantI’ve found this api that supposedly is a 1 for 1 replacement for darksy
http://pirateweather.net/en/latest/. I’m using it in home assistant already. works great.
thoughts?

RayKeymasterWe’ve already switched to Apple Weatherkit. Apple bought DarkSky. It’s fairly easy to make the transition.
April 3, 2023 at 4:55 pm #75176
ecto1a2003ParticipantIs there anything I need to do on my end?
April 4, 2023 at 12:43 pm #75183
RayKeymasterNo. this change is made on the weather server. Users don’t need to do anything.
April 5, 2023 at 5:44 pm #75194
Steve CampbellParticipantAlthough the weather service is shown as on-line and updated 2 hours ago, the message at the bottom of System Status shows”Unknown weather provider”. Details show Total Rain 0mm although 3mm rain fell yesterday. and ETO 0mm. Watering level is 0%.Don’t know whether to trust it or not?
Cheers

berkinetParticipantExact same problem as reported by Steve Campbell.

ecto1a2003Participantyup, my water level has been at 0 percent for a week now. I don’t think the apple thing is working correctly.
April 8, 2023 at 2:29 pm #75223
DRomanenkoParticipantI had similar issue. No watering for a week (since 04/01/23)
Weather adjustment is set to ETo
%watering returns a 0%Rebooted the device today (04/07) – now showing schedule starting for the next day (04/08).
Will see if watering occurs.Attachments:

berkinetParticipantLast rain was 3 weeks ago. Last night rebooted OpenSprinkler, but today it still thinks the garden doesn’t need water. It is not clear if this is a problem with the weather source, or something else. Note I do have a WU account and the API key verifies. However, that data does not seem to be used in the actual ETo calculation or in the displayed current weather.

DRomanenkoParticipantFollowing up from yesterday’s post
Scheduled runs did not occur this morning
%watering shows 0%April 9, 2023 at 9:38 pm #75243
RayKeymasterWe just switched to Apple Weatherkit as DarkSky is no longer available and we are aware ETo is not working properly. We will be fixing it asap. Thanks for your understanding. In the meantime you can temporarily switch to Zimmerman method.
April 10, 2023 at 11:31 am #75249
RayKeymasterWe have addressed this issue. You can try again. Reboot your controller, or temporarily change the weather algorithm to a different one and change it back to ETo. See if it works.
April 10, 2023 at 11:38 am #75250
berkinetParticipantThat looks like it did the trick. Thanks.

GillesParticipantHi Ray,
Restarted my device here, but the Weather Service Details looks OK except the rain level, which remains at 0 mm while it has rained quite significantly for the last 24 hours.
Last weather Service call shows “success” just a few minutes ago as I just restarted.April 11, 2023 at 12:51 pm #75266
GillesParticipantI tried to change the system from ETo to Zimmerman. Then, I can see Total rain 6.1 mm.
Changing back to ETo though, Total rain comes back to 0. It seems there is a problem pulling rain level on the ETo method only…April 11, 2023 at 5:10 pm #75272
RayKeymasterWe will check, but I guess Zimmerman and ETo pulls different data. Zimmerman uses today’s weather data, ETo uses history data, which could explain the difference.
April 12, 2023 at 9:24 am #75281
GillesParticipant@Ray, I checked again, and clearly when selecting ETo, the system doesn’t report any rain (0 mm), while it has been raining quite a lot during the last 3-4 days here. It can’t be that rain history data could potentially be 0.
On Zimmerman, latest pull reports 13mm of rain in my location, which is about right.April 12, 2023 at 10:33 am #75284
RayKeymasterCan you file a support ticket with your configuration file attached? We need a specific location to track down this.
April 14, 2023 at 8:34 am #75300
GillesParticipantHi Ray,
As requested, I have just filed a support ticket (#12638).
ThanksApril 18, 2023 at 4:49 pm #75342
WinedsParticipantSame here. Eto doesn’t show rain whereas Zimmerman does. Location Melbourne Australia.
April 18, 2023 at 5:45 pm #75344
DazzzzParticipantI’m also experiencing this issue in Melbourne Australia.
May 5, 2023 at 6:45 am #75535
GillesParticipant@Ray, any news on this subject?
Until resolution, the Eto model is not an option for all those with this issue.May 7, 2023 at 4:32 pm #75568
RayKeymasterSorry, still trying to track down the problem. We’ve got a surge of orders and several other things (including OTC connection) so we are a bit overwhelmed at the moment and things are progressing slowly. To be honest, I was hoping someone with programming skills can take a look at the weather code and perhaps point out something they find. My suspicion is that either it’s due to the ET part of the code pulling different API from weatherkit, or its a unit conversion problem. We will try to resolve it as quickly as we can.
May 9, 2023 at 3:51 am #75594
GillesParticipantThanks fort the answer Ray.
I unfortunately don’t have the programming skills required.
If someone needs any tests, let me know. Otherwise I will stand by patiently.May 22, 2023 at 10:00 am #75761
RayKeymasterThe issue with missing rain data in ETo algorithm has been identified and fixed. Let us know if the problem still persists.
