automateParticipant@sprinklesprinklelittlestar: This is a DIY 2.2u, In any case I used nylon screws since I saw some of the screw heads landed on traces.
@Ray: I am changing the time zone on the controller with the buttons. Note, this is a DIY 2.2u, if that makes a difference.
automateParticipantMore testing, I can confirm that NTP is not working. I can change the time using the time zone menu, it changes immediately, nothing else causes a change.
My original problem was that I had time zone 1 hour off, that is why my clock read wrong. I was assuming NTP was making changes, it was not…BUT it should.
automateParticipantI reset the system, manually reloaded all the data to be sure I wasn’t copying bad info.
Web interface is now working, If I check NPT and use New York as my location the time does NOT change.
automateParticipantturning NTP on / off did not fix it, I had set the Time zone to -8:00 and turned on NTP and it got the right time, I thought the NTP was the fix. Now I cycle the NTP and it makes no difference. What is the IP for the NTP?
automateParticipantmore testing and I found I had the Tzone on the LCD set at -7:00 and I am at -8:00. I would think NTP would take care of that??? but is doesn’t, so what is the purpose of NTP If i have to set the time offset. The web interface does not offer the Tzone feature, only place to do it is on the LCD.
NOW after messing with the LCD settings (on the Open Sprinkler board), the web interface comes up blank, but I can still access it on the IPhone???
automateParticipantI think I found the problem, The firmware on the Open Sprinkler display was set to NTP “off”.
This is at the LCD display, even though I had set it to “on” in the web interface it didn’t turn on at the LCD.
I see something else at the LCD that isn’t on thew web interface, “use weather” it gives me options 0 – 5, what does that mean?
automateParticipantSo obviously it is my system, but what is causing it?
automateParticipantI put in 92410, click lookup and it comes back with San Bernardino, California. If I enter San Bernardino, I get a list of options, the top one is San Bernardino, California. Either way the Open Sprinkler time is ahead of local time by one hour.
This is a screen shot with the computer clock in the bottom corner. You can see the Open Sprinkler time at the top and the difference.
automateParticipant
automateParticipantI have tried Sacramento, Redding, los Angeles, They all return 1 hour AHEAD of local time. What can be wrong with my system?
My local time is 10:00, Open Sprinkler says it is 23:00
automateParticipantSan Bernardino, 92410
Is there a place to turn DST on / off?
automateParticipantin current status, at the top of the screen is reads “Thr, 06 Nov 2014 20:49:06”. The time on the computer and all the clocks in the house read 7:49. What am I missing?
automateParticipantit is working fine today, it must have been as you said a glitch with Wunderground. Thanks for looking into it.
automateParticipantI am using a zip code, 92410
I am not sure what you are asking for “historical data”. If you mean the log, it shows data for the past week, preview programs does show what will run today.
When I am in edit options and go to the Wunderground key, if I click “verify” the bar turns green.
automateParticipantMy LCD, computer (Chrome), and IPhone shows an hour later than local time.
I am using NTP sync. I can set it manually and it shows correct on all devices, but put it back to NTP and it is off 1 hour. I am in California, the whole state is DST.
automateParticipantNot a problem. I thought I had read it (about formatting the SD card) somewhere but have been reading so much lately couldn’t remember where or if it was even this project. When I realized I needed it for logging I went to the opensprinkler site, that seemed logical.
In any case THANK YOU to all that have made this possible, the idea, the kit, the firmware, the app. It all works as advertised, no problems assembling it or getting it to work. It is very intuitive to program, GREAT JOB!!!!!
automateParticipantJust found it, sorry
For anyone else it is in the .pdf manual
automateParticipantI must be blind. I navigate to opensprinkler.com>support>advanced and I don’t see anything referencing logging only UI assets. Can you point me to the link?
automateParticipantThank you for the new instructions.
I am trying to get logging to work, on page 11 is says;
“unless noted otherwise, the controller does NOT come with microSD card built-in. In order to use logging, please
refer to the Advanced Topics section for instructions on how to install a microSD card.”
I went to advanced topics and there is no reference to using the SD card for logging.
Do I just put one in and it starts logging or does it need something written to it before?
automateParticipantOK, thanks for the quick response. I will stay tuned, I am sure there are options I need to learn.
automateParticipantI thought the traces under the screw heads might pose a problem down the road so I used NYLON 3mm screws I had laying around.
