Hi Ray, I am using ETo.
I was not aware ETo was using forecast. I will move away from Eto then, as this is too risky.
Nevertheless, Eto reports rain for 7.4mm right now, while all weather forecasts (checked 3 different sources) plan for no rain within the next 5 days (first rain planned for Saturday for 3mm).
As a result, my watering % is now set at 0% while it is super hot with no rain expected before Saturday.

I have now run the OpenSprinkler for several weeks since the update.
There is still an issue on the weather retrieval. In particular, it looks like there is a large delay on the rain retrieved from the weather service and the reality.
For instance, it rained on Saturday here. On that same day and Sunday, there was no rain reported by the diagnostic in OpenSprinkler system status, despite saying that the call to the service was successfull less than a couple of hours before.
Yesterday on Monday the weather was super dry and hot… but weather Service shows rainfall pretty high (successful call to the service one hour ago).
It looks like the rainfall data is always 2 days old at least. I have experienced this behavior consistently for the last weeks since the update.

    Thanks Ray.
It has not rained here for several days, so difficult to say if it works now… Will check when we have a bit of rain, not before several days it looks like.
    Thanks again,

    Thanks fort the answer Ray.
I unfortunately don’t have the programming skills required.
If someone needs any tests, let me know. Otherwise I will stand by patiently.

@Ray, any news on this subject?
Until resolution, the Eto model is not an option for all those with this issue.

@Ray, I checked again, and clearly when selecting ETo, the system doesn’t report any rain (0 mm), while it has been raining quite a lot during the last 3-4 days here. It can’t be that rain history data could potentially be 0.
On Zimmerman, latest pull reports 13mm of rain in my location, which is about right.

I tried to change the system from ETo to Zimmerman. Then, I can see Total rain 6.1 mm.
Changing back to ETo though, Total rain comes back to 0. It seems there is a problem pulling rain level on the ETo method only…

    Hi Ray,
Restarted my device here, but the Weather Service Details looks OK except the rain level, which remains at 0 mm while it has rained quite significantly for the last 24 hours.
Last weather Service call shows “success” just a few minutes ago as I just restarted.

    Peter,
The issue is that it looks like the app on the phone changes temperature units from one option to another without any changes made in any setting

It is very strange as the temperature changes from Celsius to Fahrenheit, then again to Celsius from one day to another on my phone as well.
I have made no change on location at all. I am based in France.

@Peter, thanks for clarifying the 30 hours vs. 3 hours. It definitely makes more sense and I feel more confident with the calculation. It has been raining quite a bit here in Paris lately. The watering has been at 0% for some time, so I couldn’t check if watering level fluctuates significantly during nights (which was a major issue before the last updates were introduced by Samer).
    Thanks again

This is very interesting analysis. thanks a lot Peter.
I guess the major issue for the new approach is the next 3 hours temperature forecast. For those watering at night in places where there can be large differences between day and night temperatures, it is very likely that the watering level will be not sufficient. I think the ideal calculation should take into account:
    – the last 24 hours averages (temperatures, humidity) to calculate the evaporation and watering level
    – adjusted with the next 3 hours rain forecast
I think this would address all concerns.

    Hi all,
Same here. What are the next steps for us using the API today ?
I read all messages in the dedicated thread on this subject on the Forum, but actions do not seem super clear to me from the 4 pages discussion…

    Thanks

Similarly to a few others, I would not be able to use v3.0 in my setting, through lack of Ethernet port. Device is not always connected in a place where WIFI is available. Today a simple CPL plug brings Ethernet anywhere for a cheap price.

    Hi Samer,
I just created a new topic on the issue with the WindowsPhone App. It still doesn’t seem to work on my side either.
    Thanks

    Hi there,
Yesterday I attached pictures to all my Stations from my iPad. Worked well, and it seems everything was synched as I could see the images from the web UI on my PC as well as from my phone.
Today though, no image from any device are shown. Before I start again and recreate, do you have an explanation on what could have deleted the images?

    Thanks
