    https://rayshobby.net/docs/os_manual.pdf

the manual says to not re-program the fuse bits.
    Page 12
Do not re-program the fuse bits on OpenSprinkler v1.2 and above, as they have built-in USB programmer and are already programmed with the correct fuse bits.

But even if i broke the rules and wanted to do it, I don’t see any documentation how to reprogram the fuse bits? Can you point me in the right direction?

How could something like this happen? Is the OS fixable?

I just watched it more closely, and yes it it timing out and restarting and then getting stuck on the NTP Syncing message, and then restarting again, repeatedly.

I reset the power and the NTP Synced and the OS came back online.

I am trying to narrow down the time drift issue on the 2.3AC running 2.19 firmware. I was waiting for it to happen again on my spare test system, after which i was going to reduce the number of zones to see if it happened again.

Yesterday for some unknown reason the OS rebooted itself. I have it on a backup power supply so there is no reason it should have rebooted.

This morning i attempted to look at it in the browser and could not access it. I looked at the display and it displayed something i had seen one time before and posted originally in this thread. See attached image.

I have physically 40 stations, but i have it configured as 48 stations. I have one master on station 8 (on main controller). I have 30 zones plus the master psychically wired. The 8 stations above 40 I use for RF devices. I have had it configured this way for a number of years, but it is only recently the time changing issue started.

Maybe this is an issue with 2.3(A/C) running 2.19 with a “larger” number of zones. I do not have one, but perhaps the 3.0 version does not have the issue.

bigmaxy, how many zones do you have?

I have two OS systems, one online and a backup offline. The time change did not happen on the test system, but i somehow rebooted itself at 2am last night. There problem seems to arise after 24 hours usually. I will plug the spare into a UPS so to mitigate power issues (which i really don’t have, so i don’t know why it rebooted last night).
Once i see it happen on the test system again, i will reduce the zones to 8 and then monitor it.

Also, if you look at the image instead of saying it made the call “x hours ago” it says it is going to make a call “in 18 hours”. Instead of showing a call in the past it is displaying a call to be made in the future. This behavior only started happening in the last couple of months. Maybe after the firmware update. By the way, i also have a 2.3 (AC) running 2.1.9 firmware.

If there was feature logging weather calls and NTP calls it could be perhaps further narrowed down to what is causing this.

I tried to put back an NTP and it was working for about three days, but i just looked at it and it just lost time.

If you look at the attached image the time at the top (is blurry) is 3/9/2020 15:02, but the time of the last call shows it took place Mar, 10 10:00. It is impossible for the call to be 18 hours past the current time.

It did the call and then either in the weather call or NTP call (if there are 2 different calls) it got set back in time.

I experienced this same behavior recently.

Per Ray i turned of NTP and it stopped, but time drifts a little.

I turned NTP back on 2 days ago and set it to 132.163.96.6 and have not seen it happen so far, i expect it to fail, but hope it does not.

So far it seems the advice you sent me in the support section is correct.

    It was the CR1220 battery.

I have left both units running for 3 days so far and the date and times are remaining correct.

If anyone else has this problem, the battery in the OS i have was difficult to see, i had to remove the display which is attached with pins into a socket on the mother board, It wiggles out easily.

I just looked it again, and it happened again. It is currently 2/21/2020 at 2:47. The weather call had just gone out and the weather services shows online and it shows the wrong date and time for when it was received as well. I rebooted the OS and after rebooting the correct date is back.

    NTP IP 204.9.54.119
IP of OS is 192.168.101.220 port 13650
    gateway 192.168.101.1
    Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
    DNS Address 8.8.8.8

i had the port listed in the forum posting on the wrong line. It is the ip of the OS, not the NTP

The other day i changed the NTP to 132.163.96.6 but i still saw the anomaly happen again.

I have been watching it on and off today and so far so good.

attached is an image of system diagnostics, i don’t see anything regarding time zone data.

It does show an “offline” condition for the weather service. Could that be related and any idea what causes that?

The same thing happened again today. It is feb 15,2020. My sprinkler at noon was running, i checked the clock on the OS and it was incorrectly set at feb 14,2020 midnight. Is there way to track NTP calls and results?

I don’t know if this is related to the NTP not syncing. But today i had another issue. A zone started going off at 12 noon, however I know it is scheduled for 12 midnight. I checked the OS. I have two images of time.gov vs what was on the OS. How can the time get so off? I rebooted and the time issue appears corrected, for now.

It has not happened since. But i don’t modify programs often.

Timing wise, I was right in the middle of modifying programs on my android phone with the OS app when it happened.

Pure speculation, but perhaps doing the program update coincidentally just as the NTP was syncing is what may have caused it.

What somewhat unexpectedly surprised me is that it only caused the Ethernet to lock up (sprinklers kept going on and off as expected).

no, I did not try saying yes to both because I did not want the 2nd device’s data to be uploaded and overwrite the first one. The first one’s configuration is up to date and the second one is older data. I wanted to upload data from #1 and then download that same data to #2.

I completed what I wanted to do with the traditional json export import.

I suppose once they both match I can say yes.

Does the could sync store the data for each device separately for one account?

    Hi,

I saw this feature and have 2 devices and figured i’d give it a shot.

When i login from the first device it asks “Do you wish to add this location to your cloud synced site list?, This site is not found in the currently synced site list but may be added now.”. I clicked yes.

And tried the other device and it gave the same message, so i clicked”no”

I found every time i login from the first device i get the same message, it does not appear to be “syncing”

    am i doing something wrong?

    Thanks,

    Gary

i’ve been using an injector with a tank to fertilize with the sprinkler. I have the pump wired to the pressure switch on the pump so it runs with the pump and i have a manual on off switch in line. When i fell the tank with fertilizer i flip the switch when ready and then either the tank runs dry or i turn the pump off manually. I could probably put a relay switch on another zone and use the OS to turn on and off the manual switch, but it would still be manual to activate the pump.

I think i may have found the 200% culprit maybe. When wundergound returns “Precip Today -999.00″ it appears that may be forcing the calculation to go to 200%. Obviously we did not have -999.00” of rain today. Can erroneous negative valued data like that be treated like a zero in the calculation?

For a long time i had “west palm beach, fl” as my location with wunderground, but recently it had been displaying “westgate,fl” instead of “west palm beach, fl” on the OS home screen. So about a month ago i changed the location to my zip code “33417”. This put “west palm beach, fl” back as the location on the the OS home screen. “33417” is returning the erroneous data (“Precip Today -999.00”), i just changed it back to “west palm beach, fl” and i’m getting “Precip Today 0.00” and the adjustment is a reasonable 103%.

I see you are working on a solution to allow the use of weather.com’s data instead of wunderground. Maybe that will be a fix to.

Still if today’s precip comes in as an erroneous negative value, it seems the app could just treat it as a zero value.

It happened again tonight. I checked it at 11PM and the adjustment was 107%. At midnight is when i start the programs. I checked it at 12:06AM after the programs had started and it was back to 200% and the programs were set to run for excessively long times. I rebooted the OS and it the adjustment returned to 103%.

Something has drastically changed with the weather adjustment and it is consistently incorrectly popping it up to 200%.

I’m in 33417 (west palm beach, fl).

Of course i don’t hold OS accountable for the invalid data being returned by Wunderground. However, i mention the values because if an invalid value is returned, i think OS should repoll the wunderground at a greater frequency until it gets a valid value and at least treat invalid precipitation values as “0” (zero) if those invalid values are resulting in the 200% irrigation adjustment. I’m not sure they are the reason for the 200% adjustment, i’ve seen invalid values in the past and never had the 200% adjustment before. It actually shows those invalid values after the reboot of OS changeed the adjustment from 200% to 107% so it is likely the invalid values are ignored by OS and the 200% calculation is due to some other glitch.

I am having a similar issue all of a sudden. Last night the percentage was at 200%. I’ve never seen that before. I rebooted the OS and it changed to 105%. This morning it again was at 200%, i rebooted and it returned to 107%. Maybe there is a problem with the updated script.

I never really want to see more than 110% anyway, no matter what. Perhaps there can be a max and/or minimum percentage amount setting, so that if the weather calculations return such a large amount (200%) it won’t allow more than 110% (or whatever i set the max to) anyway.

I don’t know if this has anything to do with it but the weather diagnostics show:
Precip yesterday T” (not a typo it has the letter “T”)
Precip Today -999.00″ (again not a typo it shows “-999.00”)

    Hi,

Installing the updated firmware did it!  In fact looking at the log it appears that everything was functioning except the UI.

As always thanks for your great work on the OS!

I’ll keep you posted if i see any further issues.

I had rebooted before and i tried it again.   this is the same configuration i’ve always used previously.

I reset the machine and tried to load the same json after changing DHCP from 0 to 1.  i managed to change some of the configuration of the OS (weather id, exp board count), but  it won’t import the station names or programs.

I probably can reenter all the stations and the programs, but its a bunch of work.  Are you able to import this into your test OS?

Here is the updated json with dhcp set to 1:

    Hi,
