Asus TF700f with Android 4.2 doesn’t pop up “Selection wheels” when I edit the field, and works ok.

jgryllsParticipantToday I again tried to install fw 2.1.0b in my hw 2.1 OS which has been running fw 2.0.9 successfully.
This time I used the updated app 1.2.2 to transfer the configuration from OS running 2.0.9 to OS 2.1.0b.
After the reflash the OS booted normally and quickly connected with an ip 192.168.1.65 as the pre-allocation in my router required. I then imported the configuration with app 1.2.2 and rebooted the OS to see what would happen.
This time the OS took a very long time to connect and had an ip 192.168.1.22 just like I was getting with app 1.2.1.

I have been using app ver. 1.2.1 and firmware 2.0.9 without problems. Today I updated to fw 2.1.0-beta and struck problems right away. I have my router set to allocate predefined ip addresses according to a table of known mac addresses for convenience. If I install 2.1.0b and then reboot the device it behaves normally and accepts the predefined ip address normally. However if I then import my saved configuration via the 1.2.1 app, and reboot the device takes a considerable time to obtain an ip address and then its the wrong one, ie the dhcp server in the router treats it as an unknown mac address. It seems as though importing the saved configuration somehow corrupts the mac address being sent to the router when the device requests an ip address.
I have installed 2.1.0b and then back to 2.0.9 repeatedly and the problem always occurs with 2.1.0b firmware after importing a saved configuration.
I will use 2.0.9 until the issue is resolved.

jgryllsParticipantI too have now googled “find sprinklers” and I am sure it is done by switching the operate current on and off fairly rapidly. One user even invented a modulating device by including a coarse saw blade and a bolt in the cct. One side of the loop connected to the saw, the other connected to the bolt, he would scrape the bolt across the teeth. I’m not sure whether it was a square wave generator or a saw tooth generator 😆

I have moved to a new property twice in the last ten years and each time have had a great deal of trouble finding my below ground level solenoid valves even when provided with a rough map of their locations. Mostly installed at the same level as the underground piping they quickly become buried by soil, fallen leaves etc, and or overgrown by grass. The situation is further complicated by the fact that I am now in my sixties and my memory is not as good as it was.
I believe that commercial landscape gardeners use such a device to locate the existing solenoid valves of their clients.

jgryllsParticipantIn Australia we typically water gardens at night because we lose less water to evaporation. At night with lower temperatures and consequently higher relative humidity and far less wind, these conditions mean much less evaporation and more water to the plants. In hothouses with a captive atmosphere this would not apply. I imagine this would also increase the likelyhood of fungal problems as you state, something that has not been a problem to me.
jgryllsParticipantYour problem sounds very like the problem I had, see “Windows Driver Operation/Openspri kler Recognition Problems”.
Briefly, if you hold pushbutton B2 any longer than 2 seconds after plugging in USB cable it Seems to prevent/corrupt the id string sent from the Opensprinkler as it tries to identify itself to Windows.

Responsive only to power refresh when locked up.
The unit is located remotely in a shed, connected to the network through an Edimax EW-7303HPn V2 Wifi bridge to my Wifi router. The Router signal level is fairly weak at the bridge but the bridge and a Wemo switch operating through the bridge are reliable. I use the Wemo switch to reset the sprinkler unit when it locks up.
The sprinkler unit operated reliably when connected directly to the router driving only LEDs during the testing phase pre-installation.
So it seems that the sprinkler unit cannot cope with a slightly marginal Internet connection.

jgryllsParticipantI too have not had a lockup since turning Auto Re-connect off (I was already using a Static IP) I continue to use NTP sync.

I spoke too soon, it just locked up. -
