I am following this as I am having a similar issue. I know I had port forwarding work at my other house, but cannot make it work since we moved. I have checked and it says the port is open. I used what is my IP to find what my router IP uses. When I try using that IP address I continually get an error message that I cannot connect. I am feeling dumb here as I know I made it work previously. I have tried this on my Laptop with Windows 10 and also on my Samsung S7 and neither will letme log in unless I use wifi or the local LAN. I know it is not nearly as hard as I am making it, but if anyone has any ideas I would certainly appreciate the help.

    Thanks in advance

On my laptop, using your software.. it shows up as rain sensed. On my Samsung phone, it does not show that. Maybe I have a setting different? If I manually set a rain delay, it shows up on both the laptop and phone. hmmmm

and the rain sensor works perfectly.. as I expected. I have a program to run at 4 AM on Saturdays, and we had a good rain storm last night, and low and behold, when I look at status, the last run was when I was attempting to test the sensor the evening I installed it.

    Thanks again!

Have to tell you.. I had a few sprinkler heads that were damaged by the guy that did aerating. I was out fixing them, in multiple zones, and of course since your program works well it was a simple matter to turn on a zone for a short time to test if there were any other issues. I was able to fix all the zones in probably 50% of the time it would take to keep walking back and forth to the controller. Plus I was not soaking wet as I could simply shut the zones off. It was awesome. My neighbor across the street was watching and came over to see how I was turning on the zones. I explained how it worked to him and he loved it. I gave him all the information on where to buy, how to setup, so you might have a new customer, without advertising. 🙂 🙂

as usual you are VERY helpful. I was able to reset the EEPROM to factory and it let me redo the program and it all works fine locally. I set it up on my Samsung 4 as well. I did the port forwarding on my Comcast router and it appears to be right, but I have not figured out why it will not work. It appears to be right. I was kind of shocked about the IP address that Comcast uses. I was expecting 192.168.0.* to access my network, but it is 10.0.0.1 Either I have not set it up right or maybe my antivirus is blocking it from working. I also can use your program on my Samsung phone, but it must be working on the local wifi, because it stops working when I leave the house. Not sure what I did wrong, but for now at least I was able to get my phone to work so I could get my phone working and use it to the system while in the yard and not have to keep running back to the original controller

hmmm I cannot figure this out.. it is almost like a read only file in the Open Sprinkler. It keeps asking for a password, and I am almost positive I never set one up. I tried PW Password. etc and a couple of my normal passwords without success. I really think I need to wipe the data and start over, but I do not know how. 🙁

I honestly dont remember ever setting up the password, but I tried the one I would normally use, and also opendoor, and get the same error message. I went into setting and the ignore password is NOT clicked, so I click on it and get the 401 message I think I need to wipe the memory and start over but not sure how to do that

from both the mobile app and the original web app. I can see all my programs and it wants to open everything, but if I say run automatic or manual or save changes, it give me the 401 unauthorized message. I am thinking of just print screen my info and wipe everything from the memory, but not sure how to do that either.

    HELP…. lol

OK so since last season we changed our internet provider, which of course changed all my IP addresses and such. I finally got all of those things updated, but now when I try to make any changes I get a 401 unauthorized message. It will not let me make any password changes or anything… I am lost as I thought I had it set to ignore password. Any ideas????

So I have a question, and it is probably one of those technically things I don’t grasp, but if the run once program allows you to set a different time for each zone, why can’t that be used in the normal program mode rather than the process of setting up all the zones with the same time on a separate timer. I currently have 8 zones, but four different time needs, so I had to set up a program for each time period. It would be awesome to just set it up using the sliders for each zone like the run once program.

Anyway, you know how I am, I ask a lot of questions about things I don’t understand and gain my knowledge from all you experts 🙂 🙂

isn’t that what the run once program does now? I use it to water my garden when it needs additional moisture from the standard program

LOVE the new changes. I especially think the timers showing is great. The log program is apparently not on the hosted program. I still need to get my Linux box working so I can host my own and see how that works. I will do it soon

THanks again for all your hard work!

it said the undefined on the green status bar on the front page. I did not see it anyplace else, but the countdown timer worked and it did switch from one zone to the other, again saying undefined on the second zone

hmmm not sure if it is the web connection or what. I cannot use the run once program today. I did reboot and it worked, so it did reboot, but it will not run with the main submit button or clear with the reset button. I have even set say zone 7 at 5 minutes, tried to run, it did not run, reset will not clear it, so I changed the value manually to 0, tried submit once more, exited screen came back and it was once again on 5 minutes but had never run. I was able to run the once using the submit button in the upper right corner, but when I do that it does not know which zone is running and says undefined running.

I know it is a work in progress and can see there have been some changes made, but I use the run once often for my tomato and strawberries.

    Thanks in advance!

Well I have to say, I have seen some REALLY REALLY scary things in my life, and I would say 75% of them were by people who were not trained professionals. That said, the other 25% was by supposedly SKILLED tradesmen. or women. It is shocking to me that you can even get a license to do electrical work without some pretty basic knowledge. So book reading and online searches may be OK to learn, but the only REAL way to learn some things is to talk to someone who is truly skilled, and knowledgeable in the field. I started in the business when I was 14, and well I am MUCH older now, so I have learned both good and bad things along the way. I have also taught many apprentices in the field and was affiliated with a community college teaching the “book learning” that is required as well for many years.

So I have to say, I do consider myself somewhat of an expert, but I also admit, I have people and resources that I use on at least a monthly basis to answer MY questions.

Ok, so enough lecture time. LOL.. but in all seriousnous, if anyone has any electrical questions, feel free to ask and I will do what I can to assist. I have learned so much on this site and also very grateful to all the parties that have worked so hard to make this a truly great product!

I LOVE the idea of both controlling and monitoring our garage door. I have been using the open sprinkler for a couple months now and LOVE both the hardware and software.

I have thought about adding the door control for a while as the kids seem to have this habit of not making sure the door completely shut before they leave and I have come home several times, or went to leave in the AM to find the door open.

I am a Master Electrician so the wiring is a non issue for me, and I think it would be more secure to use a hardwired connection. The sensor to monitor door status could be a simple alarm magnetic alarm switch. That could be mounted anywhere along the door frame or even on the concrete floor with the right sensor. It could be a simple 2 wire connection.. when the door is in the closed position it would either make or break a connection, and in any other position it has the opposite effect. The wiring could be all low voltage doorbell type wiring. The same wire could be installed to either the open closed button or the opener itself to control it.

I am anxious to hear what ideas all of you smart people come up with. I have no experience with programming, but it seems I may need to. This could be a start to building Rays project into a robust home automation system that is actually USER designed. I have used and experimented with several home automation systems and they never seem to be flexible enough for my needs.

Anyway, I am looking forward to following this thread. Thanks in advance!

Ok.. so I guess I had a decent idea as I see your latest version has the countdown timer. lol. I had not tried it and it just started and I can see it. VERY cool… but just an idea… a different color?? like the green you use for the current status? I also cannot get the weather to load on my HP Touchpad, running android, but everything else is working.

again… thanks for your good work!

The new layout looks great on my Galaxy Nexus! I have looked at the current status title over and over and it has me thinking. I know dangerous right?? lol The tab is not as much status as settings with the exception of the log of the last run sprinkler and the current running sprinkler. So I was thinking, and of course just an idea I am throwing out, it would be awesome to see that log or the current running sprinkler on the front page and the other things on a different tab that is labeled more along the lines of current settings.

Far be it from me to be critical because I think it is great what you have created, so please consider this as just suggestions.

    😀 😀 😀 😀

So on the web interface, the weather only seems to update if you refresh the main page. I thought it was just me, but I opened the web page on my laptop early today and it never changed. I just looked at it again, and it still says the same weather. I know the system works as I just opened the same page on my Phone— STILL VERY VERY COOL BTW!!!— and it shows the actual current weather. Maybe it is just me, or an issue with the web interface. Not sure.

I think the weather icon at the top is cool, but in the space to the right or left you could have something that says sprinklers ON.. or rain delay on… I have still not worked on a rain sensor here yet.. of course it has been almost 100 the last few weeks, and we are in a drought, so it has not been a priority. LOL

Again, excellent work and I am so glad you are working with Ray on this project. He came up with a totally awesome hardware package that works flawlessly, and with your interface, again.. just what I was looking for.

    Thanks again

I just closed my browser ( I use Chrome BTW ) and restarted it and it works perfectly with JUST my zip code. It pulls my City and State and also the graphic with whatever the current conditions are. Great job!

I noticed you have the status showing time remaining and if it is a one time program for IOS. I looked and it is not working on the web app, but then again, maybe it is not supposed to at this time.

Again, I appreciate all your efforts!

I could not get the weather to work at all, and I could see it was trying during the initial start up, but it would go away. I simply put in my zip code and it worked perfectly and it pulled the name and state as well. Great addition to the app!

Thanks again for all your work
