zeddyParticipantAfter reading that the 2.1.7 firmware required use of the SD card at all times now, I thought maybe my SD card was actually faulty. When I removed it and put it in a PC it wasn’t even detected in the PC. I formatted a new card and it has been reliable ever since. Perhaps give that a shot before you replace your unit.
zeddyParticipant.
zeddyParticipantSince my current controller is acting up I was thinking about buying the 3.0 version, but not with the current case, has the injected molded case arrived yet?
zeddyParticipantHi Predrag
Did you get a response for your ticket? Mine started doing the same thing over the weekend, blank screen and all. At first the app started prompting for a password and I never used a password. I tried the PC and it was the same. I ended up having to factory reset the unit and restoring the config. It’s worked fine up until this morning when I noticed that the sprinklers came on last night even tho it rained, it should have put on a rain delay. I went to log in and got the same password prompt, Inspecting the controller the screen was blank again.Perhaps I’ll factory default it again and firewall it from the internet and see if that increases reliability.
zeddyParticipantI hadn’t been patching Windows since it was installed so it wasn’t a windows update that did it. It happened after an Avast program update about 2 versions ago. I did try and install the Windows creator update but that didn’t help either.
Do you have paid Avast support? I did try and log a ticket with them under the free version but they told me they won’t help unless I pay them. From reading the forums they appear to have done some firewall work for the paid version, there are people complaining about not being able to access router pages and the like but for them they can go an untick a box to resolve it, perhaps something has slipped into the free version as well.
zeddyParticipantTurns out it’s related to the virus scanner i’m using, which is Avast!. If you disable the web shield it loads the page fine. I tired adding exceptions to the virus scanner but it ignores them. The Virus scanner seems to be having trouble with some of the .js. I’ve posted over on Avast support forums but they don’t seem to be interested in fixing it.
zeddyParticipantI can confirm this doesn’t work on a 2.0 version as it does not have an external crystal for the atmega644. Does anyone happen to know what the fuse settings for the 2.0 hardware are perhaps? This worked in setting the fuses back to internal clock. I then uploaded the combined firmware which brought the unit back to life, then used the USB updater program to update to 2.1.7.
avrdude -c usbasp -p m644 -U lfuse:w:0xc2:m -U hfuse:w:0xdf:m -U efuse:w:0xff:m
zeddyParticipantHi Ray
I wasn’t talking about IFTTT, sorry for the confusion. The announcement only mentions Open Sprinkler 2.1 to perform this method of upgrading using the USB programmer. I have version 2.0 hardware and wondering if the same instructions apply.
zeddyParticipantHello
Does this method work on version 2.0 hardware as well?
zeddyParticipantHi Samer
Long story short I had manually typed in my location, this did show the correct weather for the week but obviously it was wrong enough that the diagnostics page threw an error. I used the find location button and selected my location that way and now the diagnostics work. Thanks for the help.
