SamerKeymasterThe web app is hosted on our servers. This means for the browser based access a network connection is required (unless the files are cached). However, our applications available on all major mobile platforms and some desktop platforms. We also have documentation on our support website for hosting the web files locally if you wish. You may also use the document to download the files and just use them from a folder locally.

SamerKeymasterAh! Glad you figured it out!

SamerKeymasterThe link I posted above has the zip file listed under step two as UI.zip.

SamerKeymasterI am not sure to be honest and we will evaluate the current version and get the updater to use the latest which hopefully fixes the above issues. Thanks for letting us know.

SamerKeymasterAh I understand now, the UI is hosted on the Internet by default however any of our packaged applications allow use on a local network without any Internet being required.
Also, you can download the HTML files to your computer and just open the
index.html
in your browser and it will work without Internet access. This is also true if the site becomes cached in your browser. For more advanced cases, the files can be self hosted: https://openthings.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/5000164006-using-a-different-server-for-ui-assets
I hope this helps!
SamerKeymasterHow did you research the conclusion of broken in your research?
The device will work offline, to be clear. Without a network the following items are lost:
– Network management
– Weather adjustments (rain sensor WILL work)
– DST adjustments
– Sunrise/sunset start and end time supportIn this list the only thing that stands out is the DST adjustments. Is that your issue?
SamerKeymasterYes if you have a suggestion to improve the UI/UX of the application you are more than welcome to contribute and I would be glad to review and merge your changes for the community.
SamerKeymasterWhat times are shown for the device time? Also can you possibly make a backup of your configuration and send us that via email ([email protected])? I want to check the timestamp the controller is showing compared to the date displayed on the app (as they app maybe parsing the timestamps incorrectly due to timezone issues).
SamerKeymaster@JimS The related documents is populated by Freshdesk’s software and not by us. We have no control over this other than to possibly hide it. I will look into this however please note we host both OpenSprinkler and OpenGarage documents on the same Freshdesk account, OpenThings.
For the document not found error, please note the PDF is correctly attached to that reference. I will work on fixing the actual content inside the embedded document.
SamerKeymasterI am not familiar with cPanel however the headers in your screenshot seem correct to me.
Also, what files are you putting on the SD card? Is this an OSPi that is acting as an Apache server and OpenSprinkler?
I think we need more details on what you are trying to achieve and the steps you have taken so far.
Thank you
SamerKeymasterI personally love Powerline connections for this situation. You can use it as the backhaul for an access point to the basement allowing you to have wifi for all your devices, including OpenSprinkler.
SamerKeymasterGood news, the Windows app is now fixed. Should be available in the store again with 24 hours. Thank you for your patience.
SamerKeymasterIt sounds like your OpenSprinkler has a wifi router acting as a client to your main network. It also sounds like you have a double NAT situation instead of bridging the second device.
If this is the case, you can proceed in one of two ways:
1) Switch the “client router” into bridge mode, this will allow your main router to see OpenSprinkler.
2) Forward the port to your “client router” and then also forward the port for OpenSprinkler on the client router. That means you have to perform the port forward twice (once on the main router and once on the client router).
Hope that helps!

SamerKeymasterOur application has been submitted and pending verification from Microsoft. We will update once this process is complete.
Thank you!

SamerKeymasterThe app does not really know the rejection was due to SSL. The Cordova nature results in it just knowing the network failed (due to CORS and HTML5 security).

SamerKeymasterThat is the easiest solution if you don’t want to replace the power adapter however the DC version will also drive AC valves but would require a different power supply (included with the DC version).

SamerKeymasterYou should be selecting the wifi network inside your home not the OpenSprinkler wifi. Your screenshots suggested you are trying to connect to the OpenSprinkler wifi.

July 15, 2017 at 7:30 am in reply to: 403 forbidden error when accessing https://ui.opensprinkler.com/js #47125
SamerKeymasterThe 403 error is because the link has no file in it. Directory listing is disabled on our server.

SamerKeymasterIn the location field at the top of the map, you may specify a station using “pws:STATIONID” (without the quotes).

SamerKeymasterI think you are referring to the downgrade that happens when using 802.11b on a newer network. Past that the compatibility issues are not as prevalent as you mention.
Also, using wifi you can add an access point next to the device the same way you can add Ethernet as you mention. The cost should also be the same so I really don’t see a difference here.
Regarding security, wifi was in its infancy when WEP came out and hence had to be replaced but WPA2 has been here a long time and hasn’t gone anywhere. I don’t think the issues you used to have are as much of an issue anymore hence the change.

SamerKeymasterWe are going to just buy a business license in order to keep the app as is. We will update once this is complete.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
SamerKeymasterMicrosoft removed it from the store because the app has a button which opens a browser that allows you to buy OpenSprinkler. As a result, they want more money from us by making us upgrade to a business account.
At the moment, I’m not sure how we are going to proceed.
May 28, 2017 at 9:47 am in reply to: Moving home and (probably) leaving my OpenSprinkerPi behind #46447
SamerKeymasterYes that does make sense and that is correct. One thing though, it is recommended to use DHCP reservations on your router for assigning IPs to the device rather then set a static IP on the device. This allows the device to continue connecting if the router is changed or if the IP range is changed.

SamerKeymasterOpenSprinkler 3 will work on any IP range. The reason it boots to a specific IP is to allow wifi setup the first time. Once configured, the device will use whichever IP is provided by DHCP.

SamerKeymasterIt’s possible the jQuery library generates the first unique token based on the time then increments it to avoid collision since it’s possible two Ajax queries fire at the same time.
